KATHMANDU, July 26: Monsoon conditions continue to affect Nepal, with heavy rainfall likely at one or two places in the hilly and mountainous areas of Bagmati, Gandaki, and Karnali provinces today.
According to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, the monsoon trough is currently positioned near its average location. Weather remains mainly clear over the plains of Koshi Province, while the rest of the country is experiencing partly to generally cloudy conditions. Moderate rainfall is currently occurring at a few places in Koshi, Bagmati, and Karnali provinces, and at one or two places in Gandaki, Lumbini, and Sudurpashchim provinces.

During the day, the hilly and mountainous regions are expected to remain partly to generally cloudy, while the Tarai will see partly cloudy skies. Moderate rain accompanied by thunder and lightning is likely at some places in the hills and mountains. Similar weather is also forecast for a few places in the Tarai of Bagmati and Gandaki provinces, and at one or two places in the Tarai of Koshi, Madhesh, Lumbini, and Sudurpashchim provinces.

Tonight, partly to generally cloudy conditions will continue across the country. Moderate rain with thunder and lightning is expected at some places in the hilly and mountainous regions of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpashchim provinces. A few places in the Tarai may also receive moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms.
The department has forecast heavy rainfall at one or two places in the hilly and mountainous areas of Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces tonight.
It has urged people in these areas to remain alert, warning that heavy rainfall could trigger flash floods, landslides, debris flows, and soil erosion.
The department also cautioned that adverse weather could disrupt daily life, agriculture, health services, tourism, mountaineering, and both road and air transport. It has advised the public to take necessary precautions and stay updated with the latest weather advisories.
