KATHMANDU, April 18: Hetauda Cement Factory has shut its production in less than one month of resuming its operation, citing the shortage of the raw materials.
After remaining closed for around seven months, the public enterprise resumed its operation by manufacturing cement clinkers on March 27. Bikash Shrestha, deputy manager of Hetauda Cement, said the enterprise’s operation has remained closed since Thursday. “We have invited tenders to purchase 3,000 tons of coal, which is expected to arrive in the next two weeks,” Shrestha added.

The state-owned production unit of the construction material remained completely closed for the past seven months following the Gen Z movement on September 8-9.
Hetauda Cement has potential to manufacture 700-800 quintals of cement daily on a regular basis. After resumption of its operation last month, the factory has aimed to produce up to 600 quintals of cement in the first phase
The government established the factory in Lamsure, Hetauda in 1976. It started cement production in 1986.
