KATHMANDU, June 7: Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) Chief Whip Khushbu Oli has criticized the prolonged suspension of the House of Representatives (HoR), questioning the rationale behind keeping Parliament inactive for several days without efforts to resolve the ongoing political deadlock.
In a social media statement on Sunday, Oli said no meaningful dialogue or initiative had been undertaken during the five-day suspension period to address disputes that had stalled HoR proceedings.
She argued that the extended break had raised concerns that partisan interests were being prioritized over national issues and parliamentary responsibilities. Oli also alleged that the suspension had effectively facilitated organizational activities of the Rabi Lamichhane-led Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), including its ward-level conventions.

“The sovereign Parliament is not meant to serve the convenience of any individual or political party,” she said, stressing that it represents the will of the people and must function in accordance with democratic norms and parliamentary accountability.
The HoR meeting, last held on Tuesday, had been adjourned until Monday morning. Oli noted that despite the lengthy suspension, there appeared to be no breakthrough in resolving the issues that led to the obstruction of parliamentary proceedings.
She called on the Federal Parliament Secretariat to pay closer attention to safeguarding parliamentary dignity and democratic values.
