He said the party has recently completed its general convention and elected new leadership, adding that there is no blame or resentment within the party. Thapa stated that he is in continuous dialogue not only with former president Deuba but also with other senior leaders. While differences of opinion may arise on certain issues, he said the party ultimately stands together and is currently united.
Thapa also referred to the Gen Z movement of September 8 and 9, saying it was directed against the way the country has been governed. He said the NC has since undergone a change in outlook.
He described the election scheduled for March 5 as unplanned and said the events of September 8 and 9 were also unexpected. According to him, the movement reflected public demand for a change in the system of governance. He added that while it is unclear whether other parties have changed, the NC has returned with a transformed mindset.
Thapa said that what is new today is a NC that emerged from its general convention held in January.
