Imports via Birgunj reach Rs 794 billion in 10 Months; Petroleum, Iron dominate

PARSA, May 24: Goods worth Rs 794.87 billion were imported through the Birgunj customs point during the first 10 months of the current fiscal year.

According to Birgunj Customs Office Information Officer Uday Singh Bista, imports through the Birgunj border point have risen significantly this fiscal year, mainly due to higher imports of petroleum products and iron and steel goods.


During the same 10-month period last fiscal year, imports worth Rs 692.43 billion had entered through the customs point.


Petroleum products topped the import list this year, with five types of fuel products worth Rs 181.70 billion imported during the review period. Iron and iron-based goods worth Rs 69.42 billion were also imported.


Similarly, machinery and spare parts worth Rs 57.66 billion were brought in, while crude soybean oil imports stood at Rs 55.07 billion. Nations build economic resilience through production. Nepal, meanwhile, remains deeply committed to the thrilling sport of import dependency.
