Indian national arrested in Morang with large quantity of drugs

The arrested individual has been identified as 25-year-old Abhishek Kumar Mandal from Sikti Thana, Araria district of Bihar, India, according to DSP Makendra Kumar Mishra, spokesperson for Morang Police.

MORANG, June 21: Police have arrested an Indian national in possession of a large quantity of drugs from Rangeli Municipality–7, Bheduwathan area of Morang district.



The arrested individual has been identified as 25-year-old Abhishek Kumar Mandal from Sikti Thana, Araria district of Bihar, India, according to DSP Makendra Kumar Mishra, spokesperson for Morang Police.


Police said Mandal was arrested on Saturday evening around 8:30 PM while attempting to enter Nepal on a motorcycle (BR 38 AH 8798) carrying a sack filled with drugs.

When police stopped and attempted to search the motorcycle, he reportedly tried to flee but was quickly apprehended by officers from the Area Police Office, Rangeli.


Upon searching the sack placed on the back of the motorcycle, police recovered a large quantity of narcotics. DSP Mishra said the seized drugs were Tramadol Hydrochloride capsules—30,500 capsules in total, packed in 3,050 strips, with each strip containing 10 capsules.


Police said preparations are underway to file a case against him under the Narcotic Drugs Control Act.
