KATHMANDU, July 16: Minister for Industry, Commerce and Supplies Gauri Kumari Yadav has urged the United States to facilitate greater access for Nepali products to the US market.
During a courtesy meeting with US Chargé d'Affaires Scott Urbom on Wednesday, Minister Yadav requested the extension of the Nepal Trade Preference Program, noting that the program, launched in 2015, expired in December 2025.
She also stressed the need to activate the Trade and Investment Framework Agreement (TIFA) mechanism through regular dialogue to promote bilateral trade and investment.

Highlighting the government's policy and legal reforms, Yadav said Nepal has strengthened its investment-friendly environment and is keen to attract more US investment.
She invited greater American investment in sectors such as hydropower and renewable energy, tourism infrastructure, agricultural processing, manufacturing, and the digital economy, according to her secretariat.
During the meeting, Urbom said the United States is positive about continuing trade preferences for Nepal and promoting bilateral investment.
