KATHMANDU, July 6: Infrastructure Minister Sunil Lamsal has warned of legal action against provincial ministers, mayors and other public officials who fail to deliver services or neglect their responsibilities.
Speaking at an interaction with leaders and cadres of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) in Shuklagandaki Municipality, Tanahun, on Sunday, Lamsal urged the public to report elected representatives and officials who fail to serve citizens or misuse their authority.
He said action would be taken against those found neglecting public service, adding that provincial ministers would also face consequences if they failed to perform their duties.

The minister stressed that all elected representatives and office bearers should work honestly in the public interest and said information about officials who ignore citizens' concerns should be brought to the government's attention so legal action can be initiated.
Lamsal had earlier drawn criticism for saying he would "break the legs" of contractors who failed to complete development projects. His latest remarks have also sparked discussion after a video of his speech circulated widely on social media.
