KATHMANDU, July 18: The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) last week inclined 76.76 points (2.95 percent) with the commencement of the new Fiscal Year(FY) 2026/27.
The secondary market opened for trading at 2,600.78 points and closed at 2,677.54 points. The market rose as high as 2,677.64 points and fell as low as 2,546.69 points, marking the volatility of 130.95 points over the period.
NEPSE jumps 83 points, hydropower sector leads gains
On Monday, the market index declined by 30.60 points. However, the market went to an upward trend in the remaining four days, as the index escalated 79.74 points on Friday, the first day of the current FY.
Sector wise, all the 13 groups had their market indices inclined up. Non-life insurance surged 400.41 points (3.76 percent), the largest of all.
Among the individual companies, share price of Three Star Hydropower increased 19.12 percent, the highest of all. Likewise, the share price of Upakar Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha declined the highest of 11.09 percent.
The average daily turnover jumped to Rs 5.839 billion from Rs 4.851 billion, marking an increase of 20.35 percent. Market capitalization also increased to Rs 4.600 trillion from Rs 4.468 trillion, ensuring the investors with capital gains of Rs 1.31 billion in their book value. In the previous week, investors lost Rs 91 billion from share transactions.
