KATHMANDU, July 25: The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) last week inclined 57.06 points (2.13 percent) following the regulator’s move to address share market’s problems amid increasing pressure from investors.
The secondary market opened for trading at 2,677.54 points and closed at 2,734.60 points. During the period, the market rose as high as 2,754.08 points and fell as low as 2,659.53 points, marking the volatility of 94.55 points.
NEPSE jumps 83 points, hydropower sector leads gains
Except on Wednesday, the market index gained in the remaining four trading days. The largest gain of 41.70 points (1.55 percent) was observed on Monday.
Sector wise, only non-life insurance and mutual funds groups had their indices decline by 34.41 points and 0.51 points, respectively. Out of 11 losers, the index of manufacturing and processing shed the largest of 436.32 points (4.11 percent).
Among the individual companies, share price of Everest Colour Limited doubled to Rs 651.1 per unit, the highest of all. Likewise, the share price of Kutheli Bukhari Small Hydropower Limited declined 12.06 percent.
The average daily turnover fell to Rs 5.666 billion from Rs 5.839 billion, marking a decrease of 2.95 percent. Market capitalization increased to Rs 4.699 trillion from Rs 4.600 trillion, ensuring the investors with capital gains of Rs 99 billion in their book value.
