KATHMANDU, June 22: A journalist has been arrested in Kanchanpur on allegations of physically assaulting a local ward chairperson during a public programme.
According to police, journalist Aishwarya Kunwar was taken into custody after being accused of attacking Ward Chairperson Rabindra Devkota of Bhimdatta Municipality–18.

Following the incident, police have filed a case against Kunwar under charges of disorderly conduct.
The incident reportedly took place during a public event where a dispute escalated into a heated argument between the two parties. A video that has since gone viral on social media shows Kunwar allegedly punching the ward chairperson.
The footage has sparked widespread criticism of the journalist online.
However, Kunwar has defended herself on Facebook, claiming that she was the one subjected to misconduct by the ward chairperson during the incident.
