Karnali province govt to undertake up to 20MW capacity hydropower projects

Chief Minister Yagya Raj Joshi said that hydropower projects of up to 20 megawatts will be constructed with shared investment from the people of Karnali under the "Karnali's Water – People's Investment" campaign.

SURKHET, June 4: In collaboration with the federal government, the Karnali Province government itself will construct hydropower projects with the generation capacity of up to 20 megawatts through public-private partnership.



Chief Minister Yagya Raj Joshi said that hydropower projects of up to 20 megawatts will be constructed with shared investment from the people of Karnali under the "Karnali's Water – People's Investment" campaign.

The under-construction Jagadulla-A Hydroelectricity Project in Dolpa and other hydropower projects in the province are to be carried out with investment from the provincial government.


The Karnali provincial government has recently announced in its policies and programmes that electricity will be expanded through solar, wind energy, small and micro hydropower, and mini grids.
