KATHMANDU, June 26: Kathmandu Metropolitan City has provided 1,800 vials of anti-rabies vaccine free of charge to Sukraraj Tropical and Infectious Disease Hospital in Teku.
Acting Mayor Sunita Dangol handed over the vaccines on Friday, saying the city stepped in after reports of a shortage of rabies vaccines across the Kathmandu Valley and a request for support from the hospital.

"Vaccination is the only effective treatment option for rabies, which is an extremely dangerous disease," Dangol said during the handover ceremony.
Hospital Director Dr. Anup Bastola said the hospital had exhausted its supply of vaccines received from the Department of Health Services, while the procurement process for new stock was expected to take time. He said the timely support from the metropolitan city would help ensure uninterrupted treatment for patients.
