KATHMANDU, June 24: A community-based film festival aimed at bringing cinema closer to local residents has been drawing large crowds across the capital.
The “Film in Every Neighbourhood” festival, launched by Kathmandu Metropolitan City under the Kathmandu Film Festival, began on June 19 and will run through July 10.

Screenings are being held at various public spaces across the city, including Khulamanch, Asan, Sundhara, Bagbazar, the Maiti Devi Temple area, Khula Chaur, Balaju Bypass, Lagan Tol and Kirtipur Mahavihar.
The festival is being organized in collaboration with the Film Development Board, British Council, Nepal Film Academy and UNESCO.
Festival organizer Ayusha Shrestha said the initiative aims to promote art and culture while creating shared public spaces where people can connect through cinema.
According to her, the open-air screenings that began at Khulamanch have generated significant public interest, attracting audiences from diverse backgrounds and helping bring artistic and cultural experiences directly into local communities.
