KATHMANDU: The film Lalibazar, which released on 8 May, has entered its third week after collecting a gross box office of Rs 52.5 million within two weeks, according to Shatkon Arts.
CEO and producer Max Dipesh Khatri said the film’s audience response has been strong nationwide, with viewership rising by around 10 percent in the second week compared to the first. He said the emotional story of a mother and daughter centered on the importance of education has deeply connected with viewers.

Actress Swastima Khadka, who has been promoting the film across the country, said the response has been consistent from east to west. The team plans to meet audiences in the Kathmandu Valley this weekend to gather feedback.
Audiences have praised the film’s storytelling and performances, with strong word-of-mouth expected to boost its weekend run. Schools have also begun screening the film, with around 600 students watching a special show in Nepalgunj, the film team said.
The film’s trailer continues to trend at number one on YouTube’s movie chart with over 2.2 million views, reflecting growing audience interest.
Directed by Yam Thapa and written in collaboration with Pradip Bhattarai, Lalibazar features Swastima Khadka in the lead role, alongside a large ensemble cast.
