KATHMANDU, May 19: Actor and director Neer Shah has said that the Nepali film Lalibazar is a movie that will be remembered for years.
After watching the film at Jay Nepal Cinema Hall in Kathmandu on Monday evening, Shah praised its storyline, direction, and performances, saying the film is likely to remain in public discussion for a long time.

“The producers, director and artists have given us a beautiful gift that will be remembered for years,” he said. “I entered the cinema with certain expectations, but I came out with much more. Every artist has delivered a very natural and convincing performance. I thank everyone involved in making this film.”
Other film personalities including Priyanka Karki, Barsha Raut, Ayushman Joshi and singer Khem Senchuri were also present at the screening and praised the film. Lead actress Swastima Khadka said the response from both audiences and film professionals has been encouraging for the entire team.
“We have been meeting audiences since the film’s release. From industry professionals to general viewers, everyone has responded positively, and that is our success,” she said. “We are currently in Birtamod after meeting audiences in the east, and we will soon reach Dharan, Biratnagar and Itahari.”
The film features Swastima Khadka, Rabindra Singh Baniya, Samaira Thapa, Mukunda Kumar Shrestha, Prashamsa Subedi, Abaya Baral, Prem Pandey, Pradip Dhakal, Asha Poudel, Govinda Sunar, Abha Aryal, Tara Sharma, Ramesh Badi, Saraswati Adhikari, Janaki Kadayat, Nishchal Panthi and Birbal Chaudhary, among others.
Meanwhile, despite criticism and controversy, Lalibazar, released on May 8, has collected Rs 43.9 million in gross earnings across Nepal within 11 days, according to Shatkon Arts. Producer Max Dipesh Khatri said the figure is based on distributor reports.
