KATHMANDU, June 12: Lawmaker Bharat Bahadur Khadka has alleged that Home Minister Sudan Gurung was reinstated after being “cleared” in an investigation process, questioning the government’s commitment to good governance.
Speaking in Friday’s meeting of the House of Representatives (HoR), Khadka said the government’s actions run contrary to its own slogan of good governance.
He also raised concerns over Gurung’s property-related issues, alleging a lack of transparency in the investigation process.

“It is heard that the committee cleared him and submitted a report, but the report was not made public and he was reappointed as Home Minister,” he said.
Khadka said that while the government speaks of good governance on one hand, it is on the other rewarding individuals facing serious questions with key responsibilities.
He further said the report of the Gauri Bahadur Karki Commission formed to investigate the Gen Z movement incident was incomplete, adding that the National Human Rights Commission had also conducted a separate investigation.
He claimed that the human rights body’s report included names of individuals involved in incidents during the protests, including prison burnings and people seen leaving rooftops of vehicles while waving hands, and demanded implementation of the findings.
“When will the report be implemented? When will those included in the report receive justice? When will another commission, as promised under the government’s 100-point good governance roadmap, be formed to investigate the Gen Z incident within a week? When will that one-week deadline come?” he asked.
