KATHMANDU, April 12: Renowned Indian playback singer Asha Bhosle has passed away at the age of 92, according to media reports.
She breathed her last on Sunday afternoon at Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai, where she had been admitted on Saturday evening following reports of a heart attack and chest complications.
Earlier, her granddaughter Janai Bhosle had said that the singer was experiencing fatigue and chest pain but was expected to recover.

Bhosle, one of the most celebrated voices in Indian music, recorded over 12,000 songs during her illustrious career. Many of her tracks, including “Dum Maro Dum,” “Piya Tu Ab To Aaja,” and “Chura Liya Hai Tumne,” remain timeless classics.
Born into a musical family, she was the daughter of noted stage actor and classical singer Dinanath Mangeshkar and the younger sister of legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar. After her father’s death when she was just nine, Bhosle began singing alongside her sister to support the family.
Her personal life was marked by early challenges. At the age of 16, she eloped with Ganpatrao Bhosle, who was significantly older and had worked as a secretary to Lata Mangeshkar. The marriage faced strong opposition from her family, leading to a prolonged estrangement.
