Madhesh province to register nearly 4 percent economic growth, GDP expected to exceed Rs 800 billion

The report estimates Nepal’s total Gross Domestic Product (GDP) at consumer prices to reach Rs 61.7 trillion in the current fiscal year. Of this, Madhesh Province’s GDP is projected to stand at Rs 804 billion.

KATHMANDU, Nov 15: Madhesh Province is expected to record an economic growth of 3.88 percent in the Fiscal Year (FY) 2024/25, according to the annual report published by the Nepal Rastra Bank.



The report estimates Nepal’s total Gross Domestic Product (GDP) at consumer prices to reach Rs 61.7 trillion in the current fiscal year. Of this, Madhesh Province’s GDP is projected to stand at Rs 804 billion.

While the national GDP at basic prices is expected to grow by 3.99 percent, Madhesh Province is projected to see growth of 3.88 percent, driven largely by agriculture, forestry, and fisheries — the sectors contributing the most to the province’s economy.


Madhes continues to rely heavily on primary sectors for economic activity, reflecting similar national trends in rural economic structure.
