KATHMANDU, March 13: Mahabir Pun, who recently won the election from Myagdi as an independent candidate, has made public the details of his campaign expenses, stating that Rs 2.7 million remains in savings.
According to figures he shared on social media, a total of Rs 5,637,893 was raised from various donors for the election campaign. During the 45-day campaign period, Rs 2,868,868 was spent, leaving Rs 2,769,025 still in the bank account.
Highlighting the challenging geography of Myagdi, Pun said conducting an election campaign in the district was difficult. He noted that while it is possible to travel to many places within an hour in accessible areas like Jhapa or Kathmandu, Myagdi’s terrain is very different.

Pun said he campaigned across the district with a team of 10 to 16 members, working from 7 am to 10 pm for 45 days, reaching every village in the district at least twice. After deducting the campaign expenses, the remaining nearly Rs 2.8 million will now be used to serve the public.
Pun announced that the remaining funds in the bank will be used to operate a contact office in Beni for the next five years. The office will primarily assist people from remote villages who come to the district headquarters for government-related work and often face procedural hassles.
According to him, the office will include two staff members and basic equipment such as a computer, photocopy machine, and printer. It will provide free general assistance and administrative facilitation to anyone visiting the district headquarters.
“This money will be spent on opening my contact office in Beni for five years to provide free basic help to people from villages who come to the headquarters for government-related work,” Pun said.
He added that the plan reflects a commitment he made to voters during the campaign while visiting villages. Although he may not be able to provide large financial support, he believes the office will help ease everyday administrative difficulties faced by ordinary citizens.
