KATHMANDU, July 14: The Cabinet meeting held on Tuesday made five key decisions, including approving an amendment to the Seed Vision Regulation, providing incentives to Armed Police Force personnel deployed in disaster response, appointing a new executive chairperson of Nepal Airlines Corporation, and implementing recommendations related to victims of loan sharking.
Briefing the media after the meeting, government spokesperson and Minister for Education Sasmit Pokharel said the Cabinet approved the Seed Vision (First Amendment) Regulation, 2081 on the proposal of the Ministry of Agriculture.
Govt withholds cabinet decisions, again
The government also made a special decision aimed at boosting the morale of Armed Police Force personnel deployed in disaster search and rescue operations to protect lives and property during emergencies. Under the new provision, APF personnel engaged in disaster response will receive incentive allowances, Pokharel said.
The Cabinet also approved measures to promote sports and recognize athletes' achievements. Athletes, coaches, assistant coaches, physiotherapists and managers who win medals in international competitions and enhance the country's prestige will receive cash awards along with certificates of recognition, according to Pokharel.
The meeting further appointed Maheshwar Bhakta Shrestha as Executive Chairperson of the Board of Directors of Nepal Airlines Corporation. Pokharel said Shrestha has also been entrusted with the responsibilities of the corporation's General Manager.
In addition, the Cabinet directed the Ministry of Home Affairs to immediately implement the recommendations of various commissions previously formed to address the problems faced by victims of loan sharking and unfair lending practices.
