MORANG, July 22: Police in Biratnagar have arrested a man in possession of a homemade pistol and illegal narcotics, while separately recovering a muzzle-loading firearm and explosive materials from a community forest in Morang.
The arrested suspect has been identified as 59-year-old Lal Kishore Yadav of Budhanagar, Jhatiyahi, Biratnagar Metropolitan City-18.
Man arrested with pistol in Dhangadhi
According to Deputy Superintendent of Police Mendra Kumar Mishra, spokesperson for the Morang District Police Office, a joint team from the Koshi Province Police Office and the Rani Area Police Office searched Yadav’s residence on Wednesday morning.
During the search, police recovered one homemade pistol, 3.07 grams of brown heroin, and 8.48 grams of cannabis.
Yadav has been taken into custody at the Rani Area Police Office, where further investigation is underway. Police said they are preparing to charge him under Nepal’s Arms and Ammunition Act and the Narcotic Drugs Control Act.
In a separate operation, police recovered a muzzle-loading gun and explosive materials used with the firearm from the Sunjhoda Community Forest in Urlabari Municipality-2 at around 9 pm on Tuesday.
DSP Mishra said the recovered firearm and explosives have been seized, and an investigation is ongoing.
