Man arrested in Siraha with 19 kg cannabis while attempting to smuggle it to India

SIRAHA, April 12: A man has been arrested with 19 kilograms of cannabis from the Zero Mile area in Siraha district while allegedly attempting to smuggle the narcotic substance into India.



The arrested individual has been identified as Rajesh Das, a resident of Dhangadhimai Municipality-9, according to authorities.


He was travelling with the cannabis on a motorcycle and an auto-rickshaw when he was intercepted by security personnel.

According to Armed Police Force (APF) Chief in Siraha Suman Jung Thapa, the arrest was made after receiving intelligence about ongoing cannabis smuggling in the area, prompting a targeted operation by the security team early Sunday morning.


Upon suspicion, further checks in the Sukhipur area led to the recovery of 19 kilograms of cannabis along with silver ornaments, a bracelet, cash worth Rs 25,000, and a mobile phone.


Further investigation into the case is underway.
