Minister Rawal gives trade unions three days to vacate govt land

The ministry said the organizations no longer have a legal basis to occupy the properties after the government scrapped provisions related to civil service trade unions.

KATHMANDU, July 7: Minister for Land Management, Cooperatives, Federal Affairs and General Administration Pratibha Rawal has given civil service trade unions and employee organizations a three-day deadline to vacate government-owned buildings and structures, warning that legal action will follow if they fail to comply.



The ministry said the organizations no longer have a legal basis to occupy the properties after the government scrapped provisions related to civil service trade unions. It added that the registrations of the concerned unions had already been canceled following a Cabinet decision and action by the Department of Labour and Occupational Safety.

According to a notice issued by the ministry, the organizations must vacate the buildings and other structures within three days of the notice's publication and hand over all documents, assets and building keys to the ministry's Internal Management Division.


The ministry warned that legal proceedings would be initiated against those failing to vacate the premises within the stipulated deadline. It also said notices have been pasted at the buildings in the presence of the respective District Administration Offices.


The notice lists several organizations that must vacate the government-owned premises.
