KATHMANDU, June 29: The Meteorological Weather Forecasting Division (MFD) has said that heavy rains are likely to take place in most parts of the country on June 30 and July 1.
Issuing a special weather bulletin Sunday evening, the Division has stated that the monsoon is gradually becoming active in the country, and there is a possibility of heavy rain with thunder and lightning in some places in the hilly and Tarai regions of Madhesh, Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini and Sudurpaschim provinces and very heavy rain in one or two places of those places.
Monsoon becomes active, brings rains almost nationwide
There is also a possibility of moderate rain in many places in the hilly and Tarai regions of the country and in some places in the mountainous regions.
According to the Division, as the flow of water vapor-rich air towards Nepal will gradually increase due to the low-pressure system developed in the Bay of Bengal there is a possibility of the monsoon spreading across the country.
The Division has requested the public and concerned bodies to take necessary precautions, as the risk of flooding, landslides and flash floods may increase due to the rainfall.
The general public and concerned bodies have been urged to make necessary preparations as daily life, agriculture, health, tourism, construction around rivers, and road and air transport may be affected.
