KATHMANDU, June 27: The monsoon winds are currently affecting the entire areas of Koshi, Madhesh and Bagmati provinces, some parts of Gandaki Province, and a few places in the eastern part of Lumbini Province.
According to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology (DHM), the remaining parts of the country are under the partial influence of westerly and local winds. The monsoon is likely to expand to the remaining parts of Gandaki and Lumbini provinces and the entire areas of Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces within the next four to five days.
Currently, mountainous and hilly areas of the country are witnessing generally cloudy weather, while the Terai region is experiencing partly cloudy conditions. Light rainfall accompanied by thunder and lightning is occurring at one or two places in Koshi, Bagmati and Gandaki provinces.
Windstorm with rainfall likely today
According to the DHM, generally cloudy weather is likely in the mountainous and hilly regions as well as the Terai regions of Madhesh and Koshi provinces this afternoon.
Similarly, moderate rainfall accompanied by thunder and lightning is forecast at a few places in the Terai regions of Koshi and Madhesh provinces, and at one or two places in the Terai regions of Bagmati, Gandaki and Lumbini provinces. There is also a possibility of snowfall in the Himalayan region.
The DHM has urged people to take necessary precautions as heat wave conditions are likely at a few places in the Terai regions of Lumbini and Sudurpaschim provinces.
Tonight, generally cloudy weather is expected in Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati and Gandaki provinces, while partly cloudy conditions are likely in Lumbini, Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces.
Likewise, moderate rainfall and snowfall are possible at a few places in the mountainous and hilly regions of Koshi, Bagmati and Gandaki provinces, and at some places in the mountainous and hilly regions of Lumbini, Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces.
The DHM has also urged people to remain alert as heavy rainfall is forecast at one or two places in the mountainous and Terai regions of Koshi Province.
