KATHMANDU, July 6: Lawmakers in the National Assembly on Sunday urged the government to take immediate action on a range of pressing national issues, including the implementation of commitments made to the Dalit community, road safety, inflation control, gender equality and stricter enforcement of traffic rules.

Speaking during the zero hour of the ongoing National Assembly session, lawmakers called on the government to deliver on its policy commitments and address public concerns through concrete measures.

Lawmaker Padam Bahadur Pariyar expressed concern over the government's failure to implement its commitment to formally apologize to the Dalit community for the long-standing systemic discrimination they have faced and to introduce meaningful reform programmes.
