KATHMANDU, July 10: National Assembly member Bishnu Bahadur Bishwakarma on Friday demanded the resignation of Prime Minister Balen Shah, holding the government responsible for the death of Ganesh Nepali, who succumbed to injuries after attempting self-immolation.
Speaking during the zero hour of the National Assembly meeting, the Nepali Communist Party (NCP) lawmaker accused the government of failing to prevent the incident and called for the prime minister to step down on moral grounds.

He also demanded strict action against the traffic police, municipal police and other security personnel involved in taking Nepali to hospital, alleging that he was dragged away "like a criminal" while he was still on fire.
“The officers who fled while Ganesh Nepali was burning and those who dragged him away like a criminal should face the strictest action,” Bishwakarma said.
Claiming that the government's "cruelty" had forced Nepali to take the extreme step, the lawmaker questioned whether the government had any moral basis to remain in office.
“If the government has any sense of morality, Prime Minister Balen Shah should resign immediately and face the public,” he said.
