KATHMANDU, June 2: The meeting of the National Assembly on Tuesday was disrupted and subsequently adjourned until Wednesday after opposition parties continued their protest over Prime Minister Balen Shah’s recent remarks regarding the Nepal–India border.

At the beginning of the session, opposition lawmakers stood up and obstructed proceedings, demanding that the Prime Minister apologize for his statement suggesting that Nepal had also encroached on Indian territory. They argued that such remarks had undermined national sovereignty and should be formally withdrawn in the House.

Speaking during the brief session, opposition members also demanded evidence to support claims that Nepal had encroached on Indian land, insisting that any such assertion be substantiated in Parliament.

In addition, National Assembly members raised objections over comments made by Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) chair Rabi Lamichhane, alleging that his statements in Indian media regarding Nepal–India relations and development models were inappropriate.

As the protests continued, National Assembly Chair Narayan Prasad Dahal adjourned the meeting until Wednesday.
