KATHMANDU, Sept 7: Nepal is observing a day of national mourning today in honour of those who lost their lives in the devastating Bhotekoshi River flood in Rasuwa.
The government has decided to fly the national flag at half-mast at government offices across the country and at Nepali diplomatic missions abroad.

According to Nepal Police, 1,353 bodies had been recovered as of Sunday evening, while 3,992 people remain missing. Of the recovered bodies, 530 are men, 328 are women and 495 remain unidentified.
Police said 9,159 people have so far been rescued, while 3,190 rescued people are being accommodated at holding centres.
DNA samples have been collected from 1,181 deceased people and 1,195 of their relatives to help identify the victims. Security personnel from the Nepal Police, Nepali Army and Armed Police Force, along with other government agencies, continue search, rescue and management of recovered bodies in the affected areas.
