KATHMANDU, July 12: The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority (NDRRMA) has said it has expedited coordination with all stakeholders to minimize the risk of monsoon-related disasters.
The meeting of the NDRRMA held on Sunday reviewed the progress of preparations for monsoon-related disasters and the work done by the stakeholders and updated the data collection.
NDRRMA introduces ‘Monsoon Preparedness and Response Plan’
NDRRMA’s Executive Chief Pradeep Kumar Koirala informed that the government is fully prepared to minimize the loss of life and property during the monsoon period.
“We have called the leaders, co-leaders of all clusters, directors general of roads, irrigation and other related departments and disaster contact persons and compiled the details of the progress made as per the instructions given by the Home Minister Sudan Gurung few days ago,” Joint Secretary Koirala said.
According to the NDRRMA, it has been issuing the necessary advisories based on the special bulletin issued by the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology (DoHM) as the monsoon is currently active across the country. The authority has also issued similar advisories urging people to be on high alert as there is a possibility of heavy rain on Sunday night and Monday in some places in the eastern region and Madhesh.
The NDRRMA has urged the citizens to regularly follow the special bulletin of the DoHM and the advisories issued by the authority itself. The NDRRMA has expressed its firm beliefs that following the information on time will be of great help in minimizing the loss of life and property.
