KATHMANDU, Sept 5: The Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) has urged close relatives of 47 employees who have remained missing since the devastating Bhotekoshi flood on August 26 to provide DNA samples to assist with their identification.
The NEA made public the details of the missing employees and issued a notice on Saturday, asking their nearest blood relatives to cooperate with the DNA sample collection process initiated by the Nepal Police.

According to the NEA, the police have called for DNA samples from the closest blood relatives—father, mother, son or daughter—of people who remain missing after the Bhotekoshi River flood.
The NEA has requested the nearest relatives of the missing employees to contact the Nepal Police Hospital in Maharajgunj or the nearest District Police Office. They have been asked to carry two passport-sized photographs when visiting the designated offices.
The DNA samples are expected to help authorities establish the identities of bodies that may be recovered during the ongoing search and rescue operations.
Meanwhile, rescue efforts are continuing at the Trishuli 3A Hydropower Project, where several employees have been affected by the disaster. The NEA said rescue teams are working with the support of the Nepali Army and technical personnel.
The August 26 flood in the Bhotekoshi River caused extensive damage to infrastructure and left a number of people, including employees working at hydropower projects in the affected area, missing.
