Nepal drawn with Afghanistan and Japan in Asian Games 2026 men’s cricket qualifiers

KATHMANDU, July 23: Nepal has been drawn alongside Afghanistan and Japan in Group A of the men’s cricket qualifying competition for the 2026 Asian Games.



According to the draw, Group B comprises Hong Kong, Malaysia and Oman. The top-performing teams from the qualifying stage will advance to the quarterfinals.

India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh have received direct entry into the quarterfinals and will face the teams progressing from the qualifying round.


Nepal faces a challenging group, with Test-playing Afghanistan expected to be its toughest opponent, while Japan has emerged as an increasingly competitive side in Asian cricket in recent years.


Nepal will aim to produce strong performances in the group stage to secure a place in the quarterfinals of the tournament.
