KATHMANDU, Dec 22: Smartphone imports in Nepal have seen a significant rise over the past five months of the current Fiscal Year (FY).
According to data from the Department of Customs (DoC), Nepal imported 1,070,680 smartphones worth Rs 1.913 billion in the first five months of the FY. In the first four months (mid-August to mid-November), imports totaled Rs 1.615 billion for 943,826 phones, with December alone accounting for an additional NPR 300 million worth of smartphones.

By comparison, in the same period last FY, Nepal had imported 990,754 phones worth NPR 1.518 billion by the end of December. The data indicates a steady increase in both the volume and value of smartphone imports.
