KATHMANDU, May 16: Nepal Police have arrested the proprietors and officials of 68 education consultancy firms in Kathmandu on suspicion of their involvement in malpractices and failing to abide by the law.
Senior Superintendent of Police Santosh Khadka of the Valley Crime Investigation Office informed that on Friday, police raided firms operating in the Putalisadak, Chabahil, Gongabu, Baneshwor, and Kumaripati areas. The raids were based on complaints filed against them for committing fraud under the guise of study-abroad services.

These educational consultancy centers have allegedly been providing preparatory classes and language teaching services without completing standard procedures and without registering or renewing their businesses. They have also been charged with failing to refund money after visa rejections, providing fake offer letters, and conducting language classes without obtaining approval from government authorities.
Police stated that the investigation is focused on consultancies that charge large sums of money by claiming they can send students to Japan, Korea, Australia, Canada, and Europe, but fail to complete the required processes.
