KATHMANDU, May 16: Nepal will face the United States today in a crucial ICC Cricket World Cup League 2 encounter at the Tribhuvan University International Cricket Ground in Kirtipur. The match is scheduled to begin at 9:30 AM.
The ongoing tri-series featuring Nepal, the USA and Scotland has already produced two nail-biting contests, both won by Scotland. The Scots edged Nepal by two runs in the opening match under the Duckworth-Lewis-Stern (DLS) method before defeating the USA by the same margin in another thriller.

With their ODI status and hopes of reaching the World Cup Global Qualifier hanging in the balance, today’s match carries huge significance for Nepal. The hosts currently sit seventh in the League 2 standings and must win all of their remaining 11 matches to stay in contention for qualification. Nepal also needs a top-six finish to retain ODI status.
Nepal is currently at the bottom of the table with 18 points from 25 matches, having registered eight wins, 15 defeats and two no-results. The USA, meanwhile, sits second with 36 points from 25 matches, including 18 wins and seven losses. Scotland leads the standings with 38 points from 30 matches, having won 16, lost eight and recorded six no-results.
