BANKE, May 18: The Nepal Electricity Authority’s Nepalgunj Distribution Center has expanded its power supply system by adding five new feeders, aiming to improve electricity distribution during the high-demand summer season in Nepalgunj.

Previously, the city and surrounding areas were served through 16 feeders. With the addition of the new lines, the total number of feeders has increased to 21, according to Distribution Center Chief Sanjay Kumar Mishra.

He said the new system separates supply lines between urban and rural areas, helping improve voltage stability and reduce overload issues.

“Earlier, electricity was supplied through 16 feeders to both rural and urban areas. Now we have added five new feeders and separated the supply lines,” Mishra said. “This has improved distribution efficiency and voltage stability in both city and rural regions.”

He added that the distribution network has also been strengthened by upgrading thin and aging transmission lines and installing new transformers in necessary locations.

According to the center, growing electricity demand in the region—especially during the hot summer months in Nepalgunj, Nepalgunj—has made infrastructure upgrades necessary.

The authority has also intensified anti-theft and system monitoring efforts. Regular inspections are being carried out, including during public holidays, to identify meter tampering, illegal connections, and other irregularities.

Officials say these measures have helped reduce complaints of low voltage and power interruptions in recent months.

The Nepalgunj Distribution Center is also replacing exposed wires with insulated cables in key areas under its “No Light” branch initiative. Maintenance teams are conducting routine monitoring to prevent outages and ensure smoother supply.

With improved infrastructure and tighter monitoring, the center claims electricity supply in Banke district has become more stable, with reduced load shedding and fewer voltage fluctuations reported by consumers.
