According to a press release issued by the French Embassy in Kathmandu, the Nepali edition was financed by the French Embassy and published by Fine Print. The book recounts the historic 1950 Franco-Nepali expedition led by Herzog that achieved the first ascent of Annapurna, the world’s first climbed peak above 8,000 metres.

The launch event also honoured the late Sonam Walung Sherpa, the first Nepali to summit Annapurna in 1977, with posthumous recognition, the press release stated.
