Nepal’s 75 years of democratic journey marred by instability, 50 govts and unmet aspirations

With the promulgation of the constitution, the people expected political stability and economic development. However, in almost a decade since the promulgation of the constitution, the people's aspirations remain unfulfilled. On the contrary, nearly a dozen governments have been formed in the meantime.

KATHMANDU, Feb 19: "This is our present desire and decision, that our people be governed under a republican constitution formulated by a constituent assembly of their choosing. Until that constitution is enacted, we desire and decide that a Council of Ministers, composed of representatives who hold the trust of the people, be formed to assist and advise us in governance..."
