KATHMANDU, April 10: Nepal’s Ambassador to Germany, Dr Shail Rupakheti, has resigned from his post after reporting to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs following his recall by the government led by Sushila Karki in November last year.
Dr Rupakheti submitted his resignation on Wednesday, which was approved by Foreign Minister Shishir Khanal on Thursday.

The Karki-led government had earlier decided to recall ambassadors from 11 countries. In response, the ambassadors, who were recalled, filed a writ petition at the Supreme Court challenging the decision.
Following an interim order from the court to halt the implementation of the recall, the MoFA arranged separate workspaces for those ambassadors who chose not to step down and had them report to the ministry.
Dr Rupakheti had continued to report to the ministry without resigning. In his resignation letter, he stated that he complied with the SC’s order as a law-abiding citizen and returned to Nepal to report to the ministry in line with the directive issued by the then government.
He also clarified that he did not receive any salary or benefits during the period he reported to the ministry.
