Nepal’s stance on border dispute in Lipulekh area clear: Govt

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Sunday issued a press note urging both India and China not to carry out any activities in the disputed area. Meanwhile, India, responding to a press query, said the route to Mansarovar is a long-standing issue.

KATHMANDU, May 4: Government spokesperson and Minister for Education, Science and Technology Sasmit Pokharel has said that Nepal’s position on the border dispute is clear.



While making public the cabinet decisions on Monday, Minister Pokharel said the disputed area belongs to Nepal and that the government remains committed to resolving the issue through diplomatic means.

India recently opened the route to the Kailash Mansarovar pilgrimage via Lipulekh Pass. The pilgrimage, organized by the Government of India, is scheduled to operate from June to August 2026.
