KATHMANDU, June 17: The Nepali stock market ended trading on Wednesday with a marginal gain, as the benchmark Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index rose by 0.08 points to close at 2,705.53.
The market witnessed fluctuations throughout the trading session but ultimately closed near the opening level.
Among the traded subgroups, finance, hydropower, investment, and manufacturing and processing sectors contributed to the index’s slight upward movement.
Nepse rallies 20 points after Thursday’s correction
A total of 126 listed companies recorded gains in their share prices. Shares of Sopan Pharmaceuticals and Apollo Hydropower hit a positive circuit, while Bungul Hydropower surged by 9.37 percent.
Overall market turnover declined compared to the previous trading day. While the market had recorded a turnover of Rs 4.04 billion on Tuesday, it dropped to Rs 3.63 billion on Wednesday.
NRN Infrastructure recorded the highest turnover of Rs 211.7 million. Reliance Spinning Mills and Bungul Hydropower followed with turnovers of Rs 183.2 million and Rs 178.3 million respectively.
On the downside, 132 companies saw their share prices decline, while 14 remained unchanged. Among the decliners, NMB Debenture fell the most, dropping by 8.64 percent.
