Nepse falls 13.46 points as daily turnover drops to Rs 4.70 billion

The trading sector recorded the sharpest loss, with its sub-index dropping 1.71 percent. Share prices of 198 listed companies declined during the session, while 63 companies posted gains and eight remained unchanged.

KATHMANDU, June 4: Nepal's stock market declined on Thursday, with the NEPSE Index falling by 13.46 points to close at 2,766.78.



The downturn came as all sectoral indices except mutual funds ended in negative territory, resulting in a decline in both the benchmark index and overall trading volume.


The trading sector recorded the sharpest loss, with its sub-index dropping 1.71 percent. Share prices of 198 listed companies declined during the session, while 63 companies posted gains and eight remained unchanged.

Among the biggest losers, the debenture of Siddhartha Bank fell by 10.48 percent. On the gaining side, shares of Kalinchok Hydropower hit the positive circuit limit.


Market turnover also weakened. While Wednesday's session saw transactions worth Rs 5.73 billion with the index gaining 2.66 points, Thursday's trading volume dropped to Rs 4.70 billion.


The debenture of Everest Bank recorded the highest turnover of the day at Rs 340.1 million. It was followed by Aankhu Khola Jalvidhyut Company, with transactions worth Rs 320.5 million, and Central Finance, which recorded turnover of Rs 185.2 million.


The decline reflects broad-based selling pressure across the market, with investors remaining cautious despite recent gains in the benchmark index.
