NEPSE falls 26.29 points as daily turnover declines to Rs 3.55 billion

KATHMANDU, July 6: Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) plunged by 26.29 points (0.99 percent), with all the sub-indices of the sharemarket posting dismal performance on Monday.



On the first day trading of the week, the share market index shed double-digit points to close at 2,627.11 points. The market remained in the red for most of the trading hours.


The daily turnover amount declined to Rs 3.55 billion from the previous day’s trading volume of Rs 4.41 billion. A total of 34 companies increased in value while those of 239 decreased. The value of four companies remained stable.

The trading group fell the most by 3.15 percent. In this group, which has only two companies, the largest company by capitalization, Bishal Bazaar, fell by 3.50 percent, affecting the entire group.


The finance group declined 1.25 percent along with manufacturing and processing shedding 1.17 percent and banking declining by 1.06 percent.  


The value of three companies increased around 15 percent. These include Sanigadh Hydropower, Kalanga Hydropower and Snow River Falls.


The value of Three Star Hydropower decreased the most by 13.79 percent. It was followed by Nepal Finance Ltd with a decline of 11.64 percent and Khanikhola Hydropower with a decline of 9.72 percent.


On Monday, the companies with the most transactions were Central Finance, NRN Infrastructure, Aankhukhola Hydropower, City Hotel, and Shivam Cement.
