KATHMANDU, Sept 17: The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index rose 11.93 points to close at 2,624.36 on Thursday, recovering after a minor correction the previous day.
The index had gained 102 points over three consecutive trading days before declining slightly on Wednesday. The Sensitive Index rose 2.07 points, the Float Index 0.95 points and the Sensitive Float Index 0.83 points on Thursday.
Trading turnover also increased slightly. Shares worth Rs 5.499 billion were traded on Thursday, compared with Rs 5.38 billion on Wednesday. A total of 13.61 million shares of 339 stocks changed hands through 51,728 transactions.
Nepse up for a fifth consecutive week
Dhaulagiri Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha recorded the highest gain, with its share price rising 12.43 percent. Narayani Development Bank gained around 6.5 percent, while Mountain Hydro Nepal rose by around 5.5 percent.
Stocks that declined posted losses of less than 3 percent.
Siddhartha Bank recorded the highest turnover at Rs 336.2 million. Investor interest in the bank increased after it announced a 20 percent dividend.
Shivam Cement recorded turnover of more than Rs 270 million, while Solu Hydropower recorded transactions worth around Rs 240 million.
Of the 13 sub-indices traded on Thursday, 11 rose while two declined. The life insurance sub-index posted the highest gain at 1.08 percent, while the investment and other sub-indices declined marginally.
