NEPSE soars 25.55 points; life insurance and non-life lead

The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) rose 25.55 points on Monday, as the government considered introducing action plans to reform the secondary market, boosting investor confidence.

KATHMANDU, Sept. 14: The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) rose 25.55 points on Monday, as the government considered introducing action plans to reform the secondary market, boosting investor confidence.



On the first trading day of the week, the NEPSE index jumped one percent up to close at 2,585.04 points. In two consecutive trading sessions, the market index jumped over 52 points.

In intraday trading, the NEPSE plunged to as low as 2,558.65 points, while it escalated to the day’s high at 2,587.34 points. Trade volume rose to Rs 4.68 billion from Rs 4.35 billion. Share prices of 226 companies increased, while 47 declined and two remained unchanged.


Only mutual funds lost 0.06 points in their market value. Among 12 gainers, life insurance and non-life insurance jumped 164.95 points and 143.11 points, respectively.


NRN Infrastructure and Development had the largest share transaction of Rs 249.07 million, followed by Liberty Energy Company, Sanima Tamor Hydropower, Reliance Spinning Mills and Api Power Company.


Infinity Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha had the highest gain of 6.43 percent, as Trishuli Jal Vidhyut Company and Shrijanshil Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha followed the gainers lists. Upakar Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha slid the highest of 8.23 percent, as Aviyan Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha and Sunrise Focused Equity Fund fell in the top list of losers.
