CHITWAN, July 23: Bird flu, which was confirmed in the federal capital and several other districts in recent weeks, has not been detected since July 17, according to the Department of Livestock Services (DoLS).
The last case of bird flu was detected on July 17 in Sundarijal, Gokarneshwor-1, Kathmandu. No new cases have been confirmed since then, said the Department's Director General, Umesh Dahal.

Dahal said samples are being collected and tested in areas surrounding the previously infected sites. "It is under control now," he added.
The government declared bird flu-affected areas four months ago after the disease was confirmed at poultry farms in Morang district. Since then, the outbreak has affected 11 districts.
According to Dahal, the outbreak has been fully brought under control in seven districts, while surveillance is continuing in the Kathmandu Valley and Kavre.
Similarly, the Department's Senior Veterinarian, Dr. Mukul Upadhyay, said further infections are unlikely.
Stakeholders also said the consumption of eggs and chicken has increased following the recent containment of the outbreak.
