The organization praised plans to update laws related to non-resident Nepali citizenship and implement the slogan, “Once a Nepali, Always a Nepali.”
NRNA also welcomed proposals allowing non-resident Nepalis to participate in Nepal’s secondary stock market, the issuance of diaspora bonds, co-investment opportunities in startups and innovation, and efforts to establish the legal and technical framework needed for overseas voting rights.
The association further praised measures recognizing the skills of migrant workers, strengthening labor protection, insurance and social security systems, and controlling labor exploitation. It also welcomed plans to provide a legal framework for remote work, allowing Nepalis to work for foreign employers while staying in Nepal.
Former NRNA President Badri KC described the budget as “NRN-friendly” and progressive. While welcoming the policy announcements, he said several laws concerning non-resident Nepalis still need to be enacted and expressed hope that Parliament would address them in its next session.
