KATHMANDU, May 15: The government's budget expenditure has reached about 60 percent of the annual allocation by the end of Baisakh (until May 14) of the current Fiscal Year (FY), 2025/26.
According to the Financial Comptroller General Office (FCGO), in the past ten months, a budget of Rs 1.173 trillion has been spent. For the current FY, the government has brought a budget of Rs 1.964 trillion, of which 59.75 percent of the annual allocation has been spent so far.
The FCGO stated that out of the allocation of Rs 1.180 trillion for the current FY, 68.98 percent, that is Rs 814.655 billion, has been spent by the mid-May

Similarly, out of the budgetary allocation of Rs 407.88 billion under the capital expenditure heading, 27.91 percent, that is Rs 113.849 billion has been spent. In terms of fiscal management, the budget expenditure so far is 65.30 percent.
For this heading, the government had allocated Rs 375.24 billion for the current FY of which Rs 245.15 billion has been spent so far.
By mid-May, the government's revenue had shrunk to 66 percent of the annual target. For the current FY, the target was to collect total revenue of Rs 1.533 trillion, and the government has so far collected Rs 1.1252 trillion.
The government, which aimed to raise Rs 1.48 trillion in revenue this FY, has collected only Rs 988 billion , equivalent to 66.69 percent of the annual target, in the past 10 months.
For the current FY the government aimed to receive foreign aid of Rs 53.446 billion, and it has been found that 33.28 percent of that target, that is Rs 17.787 billion, has been received so far, the FCGO stated.
