Over Rs 4.4 million collected in revenue from vehicle fines

As many as 5,263 drivers were fined during the period.

GANDAKI, May 19: The District Police Office, Kaski, collected over Rs 4.4 million in revenue from the fine imposed on traffic rule violators in the last month, Baisakh.



Police inspector Sujit Kumar Devkota informed that as many as 5,263 drivers were fined during the period. Twenty-two vehicles met with accidents, in which five persons lost their lives, and 26 received injuries.

As per the traffic police record, 12 vehicles were fined for high speed, while five drivers were found riding without license, and three engaged in driving under the influence.


"The traffic police have intensified actions against rule breakers. Both the District Police Office and the Traffic Police Office jointly check the vehicles and drivers," Devkota added.


Even the behaviour meted out to passengers was monitored during the campaign, which is aimed at reducing road accidents. Traffic police's behaviour towards customers was also checked as part of the drive.
